Deloitte Corbet Cup and Shield is a great success

The Deloitte Corbet Cup and Shield finals took place on Tuesday 14th May, with Rovers White winning the Deloitte Corbet Cup, defeating St Martins U12 2-0 and Rangers Black beating Sylvans White to win the Deloitte Corbet Shield. 
 

The under-12 tournament had more than 175 players across the two divisions, with 14 teams playing against each other overall. 

 
The  latest tournament, which has been sponsored by Deloitte for over  10 years, began in September 2023 with all teams playing against each other on a round-robin basis. The teams were split into two groups with the top four teams competing for the Deloitte Corbet Cup and the remaining four teams competing for the Deloitte Corbet Shield.  
 
Gary Roberts, Guernsey Football Association chief executive, said: ‘The Deloitte Corbet Cup and Shield competition is a key event for young players on the island, as it marks their first taste of competitive football in Guernsey. 
 
‘We are very appreciative of Deloitte’s support because it enables us to create a pathway for young players to begin their competitive footballing journeys on the island. Their support allows us to host this event and encourage a continued focus on player development and enjoyment, ensuring that these young players continue develop and enjoy their football.’ 
 
David Becker, partner in Audit and Assurance at Deloitte, said: ‘We thoroughly enjoy being a part of this initiative each year due to the popularity of the tournament. Both matches were really close and the players served up some great entertainment for everyone spectating.  
 
‘Football is a huge part of our local community and it’s evident that there is a lot of talent coming through all the clubs. We are also proud to support the GFA through the GFA’s community programme which enables children of varying ages across the island have access to football lessons.’
