Guernsey FA Under 15 Season Review

Following a hard fought Star Trophy match against Jersey, which the Guernsey FA under 15 squad were unlucky to lose, Head Coach, Darren Sylvester has been reflecting on the 2023/24 season.

The season which, as with most football, was adversely impacted by the lengthy period of wet weather experienced in Guernsey, included some memorable opportunities for the Under 15 squad. Those opportunities included trips to England to play against Corinthian Casuals, Woking FC, and Bristol City, with those trips coinciding with opportunities to watch Guernsey FC play away matches in the Isthmian League. However, none of those off-island opportunities would have been possible without the invaluable support of generous local sponsors NSM Group, Baudains Trade Supplies (BTS) and Jason Powers Consultants Ltd. (JPCL) who all committed financially to providing the opportunities for the squad.

Head Coach, Sylvester, commented:

"From all the coaches and players involved with the U15 Muratti (Star Trophy) this season, I would like to convey our thanks and appreciation to all the individuals and businesses involved in raising the funds that have enabled us to travel to the UK, broadening the horizons of players, and exposing them to a competitive playing environment.

Providing experiences of this nature to the players can't be achieved without community support, and this season we have received that from NSM Group, BTS and JPCL, and we are very grateful.

It is imperative that we build relationships and partnerships with businesses who are invested in the development of local youngsters as footballers and people. Going forward we are open to opportunities to work with businesses on a multi-year basis. Not only to support our vision, but also in terms of what we can offer as part of the partnership, and not least as the Guernsey FA moves into the new ‘Home of Football’ in Victoria Avenue early next year."

Preparations for the 2024/25 Guernsey FA under 15 squad, which will include hosting the Star Trophy, will shortly commence. Any local company interested in partnering with the squad for next season should contact Guernsey FA Chief Executive, Gary Roberts; gary.roberts@guernseyfa.com
