Guernsey FA in the Community Courtesy of Barras Car

During the period between the October school half-term holiday and the end of December, the Guernsey FA Football Development Team once again continued delivery of its Deloitte Community Football Programme.

This delivery has only been possible through the generosity of Barras Car Centre, which provides two Hyundai Kona vehicles for the GFA Development Team and has ensured that over 70 hours of primary school-based sessions were delivered in this period. In addition, over 40 hours of after-school sessions were delivered through the Soccer School, Wildcat and Girls Player Development Centre sessions whilst girls only sessions were delivered at La Mare De Carteret High School.

During this period, weekly sessions were delivered to over one hundred children at schools including La Houguette Primary School, La Mare De Carteret Primary School and La Mare High School and over 560km travelled by the Development Team in the two Hyundai Kona vehicles.

Guernsey FA Chief Executive Officer, Gary Roberts commented that:

‘Once again we would like to take the opportunity to thank Barras Car Centre for providing the two Hyundai Kona vehicles for our Development Team. It is through the continued generosity of Barras Car Centre that the Development Team are able to be so active throughout the community and deliver so many sessions that provide fun, learning and physical literacy for the island’s young population.

This term is also very busy for the Development Team, with seven different schools benefiting from the delivery of primary school PE sessions, lunchtime clubs and after school clubs. Delivery has already started for this term with sessions at Castel, Vale, St. Martins, St Mary & St. Michael, La Houguette, Vauvert and Forest, whilst in addition the Soccer School, Wildcat and Girls Player Development Centre sessions will all be on-going.
