Soccer School Success

As the Guernsey Football Association and Guernsey Soccer School continues its partnership with Spirit for the on-going delivery of the Soccer School programme, the Summer school holiday sessions have proven to be a great success with record attendance numbers.

The first week of the Summer holidays saw 148 children aged 5-12 attend enjoying the Giveaway , whilst the two Football for a Fiver weeks saw a combined total of over 240 different children attend and the Tournament week concluded the programme with conclude with another 70 children enjoying a fun filled week.

Over the course of the last four years, the GFA and GFC Soccer School have combined resources to be best positioned to enhance provision of a varied program of football activities that provides fun learning and development opportunities for players of all levels of ability and experience and the Summer programme typified this variety. The new partnership with Spirit ensures continued delivery of the overall Soccer School delivery programme, which also includes the year round core delivery of the after-school coaching courses that have been, and remain, so popular and successful in terms of introducing young children to the sport in a positive environment with highly qualified and experienced professional coaches.

Guernsey FC Soccer School Director, Tony Vance commented that:

‘This Summer has been exceptional in terms of the number of children that have attended and enjoyed the Soccer School sessions. It is important to remember that partnership with Spirit is important because it ensures that the wide ranging Soccer School programme will continue to be available for the hundreds of children that attend the various sessions delivered throughout the year. We greatly appreciate the support being provided by Spirit and look forward to continuing to provide these opportunities for the local community as we work towards supporting player development. The Soccer School has always focused on providing young children with the opportunity to learn the game in a safe and fun environment and as a result has received great feedback from children and parents for the technical development and understanding the sessions provide.  With the continued support of Spirit, I am sure the Soccer School coaches will continue to support the development of many young and enthusiastic footballers throughout the upcoming year’.

The next school holiday sessions being delivered by the Soccer School are in October when the ever popular Dutch Masters tournament will be held. To secure your child’s place, please visit the Soccer School website: http://www.soccerschool.gg
