Guernsey FA Academy Under 16 Tour

The Guernsey Football Association’s Under 16 Academy squad are travelling to the North-West of England to play two challenging fixtures over the course of 29th and 30th October.

The tour represents the first activity being delivered through a new three year partnership with First Central Group, which will ensure that the GFA is able to provide the island’s most talented under 16 players with exciting opportunities that will be both challenging and aspirational.  On the 29th, the squad will depart Guernsey, arriving at Manchester airport and visit the National Football Museum before travelling on to Preston when they will compete against Blackpool FC’s Under 16 squad.

The following day the squad will then travel to Burnley to play against the Burnley FC Under 16 squad, before returning to Guernsey in the evening. Academy Under 16 Head Coach Stewart Moyles, look forward to the tour when commenting that:

‘This is a great opportunity for this group of young players to experience two highly competitive matches, and for those that aspire to play for Guernsey FC and also represent Guernsey in an Island Games tournament this will give an insight into travelling off-island and playing challenging fixtures on consecutive days. Playing against the Academy teams from two professional clubs is the type of test we were hoping to give these players and I am grateful for the support that First Central Group are providing to the GFA and this group of players. The squad has been training on a weekly basis and I am expecting those that have been selected to give a good account of themselves in these two matches.’
