From Monday 5th March until Friday 9th March, the Royal Air Force FA (RAFFA)will be holding a training camp in Guernsey ahead of competing in the annual Inter-Services competition against the Army and Royal Navy Football Association’s.
During that training camp, the Guernsey FA will be hosting two fixtures against the RAFFA, which will now both be played at Footes Lane. On Monday 5th March, GFA Under 21 Manager, Angus Mackay, will lead his team against the RAFFA whilst on Thursday, Chris Tardif will send out a full Senior Representative team.
Tardif also previewed the match, which he will be using as preparation ahead of seeking to retain the Muratti Vase, with the Muratti semi-final against Alderney to be played on Saturday 24th March:
‘Following the success of the game at the end of last year, we are delighted to welcome back the Royal Air Force to Guernsey for an extended training camp. Not only does it allow them to prepare for their inter-services game with a training camp and two competitive matches, it allows me to see our Under 21’s and Senior team in competitive games in the same week.
I will be using the game on Thursday as the start of our build up for the Muratti semi-final against Alderney. It allows our coaching team to continue to deliver the style of play we are trying to achieve to the players and give the majority of players that will be in our squad, vital match minutes. It also carries the added bonus for us to review a couple of extra players that have been performing well for the clubs in recent weeks. It gives them an opportunity to impress and remain in the squad for the semi-final.
I am looking forward to testing ourselves against a highly competitive, physically fit and well drilled team.’
Tardif’s squad is:
Tom De La Mare
