Guernsey Soccer School in partnership with Spirit
The Guernsey Football Association is pleased to confirm that the first Soccer School sessions of 2019 will begin in January. The sessions will be the latest to be delivered as part of a new partnership with Spirit, which has already had an excellent start with an increase in the number of children attending the weekly after-school sessions.
Over the course of the last four years, the GFA and GFC Soccer School have combined resources to deliver a varied program of football activities that provides fun learning and development opportunities for players of all levels of ability and experience. To date, this has led to the introduction of some fantastic initiatives and events including the popular community focused Football for a Fiver scheme, the exciting Dutch Masters tournaments, Guernsey FA ‘Giveaway’ and various tournament weeks including the 2016 Euro Championships tournament and 2018 WolrdChamps tournament.
The new partnership with Spirit has secured the on-going delivery of the overall Soccer School delivery programme, which also includes the year round core delivery of the after-school coaching courses that have been, and remain, so popular and successful in terms of introducing young children to the sport in a positive environment with highly qualified and experienced professional coaches. This point was emphasised by Gary Roberts, Chief Executive of the Guernsey Football Association when commenting that:
‘The partnership with Spirit has been instrumental in ensuring that the community based Soccer School programme has a positive future, and one that will continue to provide children and young people with affordable and accessible learning opportunities in a fun and safe environment. The most recent after-school sessions saw a significant increase in the number of children attending and proved to be a great start to the new partnership with Spirit. We are now looking forward to the start of 2019 and the next after-school sessions, which will again be delivered by the GFA’s highly skilled and respected coaches.’
