FA Skills Visit December 11th and 12th

Developing teachers, coaches and players

Pete Sayer and Mark Rivers are two of the FA Skills Coaches who visited Guernsey last weekend to work with our local teachers, coaches and junior players.

Pete is the Team Leader of the FA Skills Team in Kent and Mark is an FA Skills coach with the Berks and Bucks team.

The two coaches worked with a variety of groups during their visit. On Friday 11th December they visited Vale Primary School to deliver a session to aid Primary School teachers during a Year 6 PE lesson in order to help the teachers build confidence and create ideas for delivering PE.  The coaches then went to Acorn House to work with the Year 1 and 2 Girls Afterschool Football Club where teachers were invited to attend.

On Saturday 12th December the morning was spent with Guernsey Rovers AC where the club were supported with an in-service session for their minis coaches at Port Soif. The Rovers coaches were guided through a number of different practices that they could potentially use with their players.

Saturday afternoon we held a Primary Girls Football Festival at Les Beaucamps High School.  This festivals are aimed at girls aged 5-11 where the girls experience fun coaching and exciting matches within an all girls environment where the emphasis is on having lots of fun.
