Sure nets new Community Programme Sponsorship with GFA
Thousands of Guernsey schoolchildren will take part in football sessions with expert coaches, thanks to Sure’s sponsorship of the Guernsey Football Association’s (GFA) Programme of Community Activity.
The GFA’s Community Programme, which starts with the new school year in September, offers a range of activities, including PE lessons in primary schools coordinated by the Sports Commission, along with additional lunch and after-school clubs. Additionally, to support the ongoing commitment to creating equal opportunities in football, the GFA will provide specific football-based PE lessons for girls in secondary schools.
Up to four primary schools will be visited each half term, in six-week blocks for Year 5 and Year 6 children. The main focus of the GFA Community Programme is to use football themed physical activities to encourage and develop physical literacy amongst young people as part of the aim to promote healthy lifestyles and a lifelong love of sport and exercise.
Mike Fawkner-Corbett, Chief Commercial Officer at Sure, said: “We’re excited to support the GFA and their fantastic community programme. Sport has the power to connect people, and football is a wonderful way to keep young people active and engaged.
“Our sponsorship will help the GFA enhance coaching standards across all levels of football in Guernsey and we are proud to play a role in helping the sport thrive in the island.”
Gary Roberts, Chief Executive of the GFA, added: “Sure’s sponsorship is really a partnership between two organisations that care about building meaningful connections in our community. The Community Programme is a key element of the GFA’s delivery programme and we appreciate the support from Sure, which allows us to plan for the future and deliver high-quality sessions that will encourage more participation in football and help young people stay active and enjoy the sport.”
Sure’s involvement with the GFA will have a significant impact on the local community, fostering teamwork, dedication, and self-confidence in young players.
