Junior Football Leaders Award

COURSE DETAILS

An FA coaching course for 12 to 16 year olds. Do you help out at your school or club football sessions or would you like to become a football coach? Then this is a new course ideally suited to you.

This course provides a basic introduction to leadership skills required when involved in football.

The course will primarily introduce 4 areas:

  • Assisting football activity sessions
  • Introduction to refereeing
  • Helping with a team
  • Different Football Events

UNITS

Introduction to the Course

  • Course content
  • How to get involved in Football
  • Getting involved & helping those involved to ‘get better’

Assisting Football Activity Sessions

  • Creating a Safe Learning environment
  • Organising games
  • Introduction to the basics of FUNdamentals

An introduction to Refereeing

  • Preparing to referee
  • Whistle techniques & and introduction to Ball In, Ball Out
  • Safety of the Players and Re-starts to the Game

Helping with a Team

  • Preparing for the game
  • Warm-up prior to the game
  • Organising and Managing players expectations

Different Football Events

  • An introduction to three different formats of competition
  • Using these in a practical setting

Practical Involvement: Candidates will be encouraged to participate practically to maximise their opportunities for learning (however inability to participate will not prevent successful completion of the award).

Duration: 6 hours

Price: With thanks to Ravenscroft a JFLA will be delivered in your School this year for FREE.

You will need a pen to complete your work booklet and please dress in sports wear and have either football boots or astros/trainers with you.

Each club with a Minis section is always looking for keen volunteers to assist in the running of the youth section of the club, please get in contact with the Development Team to find out what is available.
