FA Welfare Officer Workshop
ABOUT THE COURSE
Awarded by The FA, this course is designed to explore the role of a grassroots football Welfare Officer.
This two-hour workshop is mandatory for anyone taking on the role of Welfare Officer for their grassroots club or league. Building on the Safeguarding Children Workshop, it focuses on the specifics of the role, what is required, and the key tools needed to carry out the role. It also explains where to go for professional support and guidance, and how to access more information if needed.
Delivered via a virtual classroom, learners should expect an interactive session and will be encouraged to participate through a chat function as well as via microphone, where relevant.
During this course you will cover:
- Safeguarding frameworks
- Taking action
- Recruitment, education, monitoring and compliance
- Children’s voices
- Technical Requirements
You can access the virtual classroom through your mobile phone, tablet, PC or laptop. We would recommend using the largest device you have available for the best learning experience. The virtual classroom is powered by Microsoft Teams. You will need to download the app to use on a mobile or tablet and would advise this for use on a PC or laptop for the best user experience. You can find out more about Microsoft Teams here.
You will need the following equipment:
- Device with internet access
- Headset or a device with speakers
- Device with a microphone
You are required to have completed The FA Safeguarding Children Workshop before applying for this workshop.
It’s also mandatory for anyone taking on the role of Welfare Officer to have an accepted FA Criminal Record Check – so learners are advised to have, as a minimum, submitted their CRC application prior to attending this training.
At the end of the workshop you will be able to:
Identify what needs to be in place for clubs/leagues to safeguard and protect children effectively
Describe your roles and responsibilities and those of other designated persons in grassroots football
Act on reported concerns about poor practice and abuse within or outside football
Begin an action plan for your club/league
