Volunteers
Volunteers are the backbone of grassroots football in Guernsey. Without the time, dedication and commitment demonstrated by hundreds of volunteers each and every week across our county, Clubs and Leagues would simply not exist. A Football Club or League is about more than just the players on the pitch.
Guernsey FA recognises the value of volunteers in running and developing football at every level and recognise our responsibility to:
- Support and develop existing volunteers
- Recruit more volunteers into football
- Recognise and reward volunteers
Most volunteers already have a link with the club or league they help to support. This could be a parent, grandparent, friend, former player or sponsor.
Through committing time and effort to running the club or league, volunteers will play a major role in giving players the opportunity to enjoy football each week – and should feel rightly proud of the contribution they make.
England Football Learning supports volunteer development in local football through delivering of the following courses online:
Introduction to Coaching Football
Introduction to First Aid in Football
Safeguarding Children Course
Welfare Officers Course
And many many more.

SAFEGUARDING IS EVERYONE’S RESPONSIBILITY
Whatever your involvement in football, you have a responsibility to make our game as safe and enjoyable as possible for everyone.
This is particularly true if your role as a volunteer involves working or being with children and young people under the age of 18.
Find out how The FA and the Guernsey FA manages safeguarding nationally and locally. You’ll also find detailed information on the game’s safeguarding strategy, and how it applies to you.
