Coaches

Guernsey Football Association recognises the value and importance of skilled Coaches in developing players at all levels of the football ladder. Whether it is mini’s, youth or senior football, coaches are essential in teaching players of all ages in order that they are given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The ever changing nature of the game in terms of physical, tactical, technical, and psychological improvements ensures that coaches must be aware of the latest techniques and philosophies involved in coaching the game. Without this knowledge, coaches will not be in a position to maximize the potential of those players they aim to help develop and improve.

Guernsey FA is committed to providing training courses and development opportunities for coaches from the Introduction to Coaching Football right through to working in partnership with the FA in providing guidance to those coaches that wish to progress to the highest level of coaching. The courses we offer Coaches are tailored so that they contain the necessary knowledge and training to ensure that Coaches are adequately prepared to be able to confidently and competently cover all areas of player development.

You can see the FA’s full ‘Coaching Pathway’ by selecting the appropriate link on the drop down menu on the England Football Learning website.

The game of football relies on the voluntary work of so many willing and dedicated participants including those without any recognized and relevant qualification. If you are already volunteering your time in coaching but without a recognised qualification, enrolling on the Introduction to Coaching Football course is the first step to not only being able to give more but also enjoy personal development. This course serves as an introduction towards understanding how to deliver safe and enjoyable coaching sessions for players of all ages and abilities.

Guernsey FA aims to ensure that all coaches in our England Accredited clubs are FA qualified in order to ensure quality technical, psychological, physical and social development for players. We recognize that this is essential in relation to providing the environment for players to develop under coaches with the right skills. Our commitment therefore, is to offer the encouragement and support to qualified coaches to continue to develop themselves for the benefit of their club as well.
