Playing for your team, and for your team to win, is the most fundamental part of the game. But not winning at any cost. Fair Play and respect for all others in the game are equally as important.
The main priority of The Guernsey Football Association LBG (The Association) is to instil within representative sides a culture that embodies the promotion of fair play at all times positive personal conduct both on and off the pitch and the importance of always competing within the laws and the spirit of the game.
In order to assist in achieving our aims we expect all of our players to adhere to the following Code of Conduct.
1. Make every effort to develop your own sporting abilities, in terms of skill, technique, tactics and stamina.
2. Set a positive example for others, particularly young players and supporters.
3. Learn the laws of the game and play by them.
4. Never use foul or abusive language and control your temper at all times.
5. Treat opponents, including team officials and supporters, with due respect at all times, irrespective of the result of the game.
6. Safeguard the physical fitness of opponents, avoid violence and rough play, and help injured opponents.
7. Accept the decision of the referee without protest.
8. Do not argue with any match official.
9. Do not attempt to mislead officials by faking injury.
10. Do not engage in any other forms of gamesmanship, for example time wasting.
11. Accept success and failure, victory and defeat; equally and always shake hands at the end of the game.
12. Do not overreact when a goal is scored.
13. Resist any temptation to take banned substances or use banned techniques.
14. Play because you enjoy the game never just to please someone else.
15. Do not bully other players and report to your Coach or any Association official any instance of bullying by others wherever it occurs.
16. Always show respect to Association officials and Coaching staff.
17. Always show respect for Ground facilities and property.
Any player who disregards or breaches this Code of Conduct or whose conduct is brought to the attention of Association officials or Coaching staff may face disciplinary action in accordance with The Association Rules.
This Code of Conduct applies at all times when training under the supervision of Coaching staff and when representing the Island.
